It’s Retro Week here at World Soccer Shop! We’re celebrating by featuring a handful of the throw-back kits available in our shop. Spanning the past century and the entire globe, these retro jerseys carry plenty of memories and an equal amount of old-school swag!

If you’re looking for memories of high drama in a retro jersey, your search ends with the Arsenal 1989 jersey, the kit worn when the Gunners sealed what’s widely considered the most thrilling league title in the history of the English game.

Arsenal and Liverpool were the top two teams in the league, and coincidentally the two club’s met at Anfield on the final day of the season. The Reds were undefeated in the league since the first of the year and with home-field advantage, it looked promising for Liverpool.

Enter Arsenal and its title-winning performance. The Gunners ran out winners that day matching the exact scoreline they needed — 2-0 — with that massively important second arriving in stoppage time! That’s the game-winner below, slotted home by Arsenal’s Michael Thomas with just seconds left in the match.

That result put the two clubs level on points and goals against, but Arsenal’s eight more goals for were the difference and placed the crown on its head.

There you have it. Quite possibly the craziest title in the English game and the jersey worn on that fateful day. If you’re a Gunner, this jersey should be in your closet!
